“Nature’s creative power is far beyond man’s instinct of destruction”

Blood-red stories painted by dark progressive rock/metal.

This is Scarlet Stories, a Dutch band from Tilburg, who became known for their unique dark progressive music with an eclectic range of musical influences, such as heavy metal, ambient, film scores and doom.

In September 2019 they released their debut-album ‘Necrologies’ (Necrologies – obituary/list of deaths), which received critical acclaim from the press, like NRC, iO Pages, Music Maker and Aardschok. The album was recorded under supervision of producer, musician & sound- engineer Joost van den Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities. Van den Broek has produced, recorded and mixed albums for Ayreon, Powerwolf, Navarone and MaYan.

Scarlet Stories originally consists of Bram te Kamp (guitar) and Lisette van den Berg (vocals), who started out creating melancholic atmospheric acoustic songs heavily influenced by progressive metal. Nowadays, Scarlet Stories is sculpting music in both a semi-acoustic form, together with Sophie Ansems (violin), and as a full band, uniting forces with Tim Kuper (drums), Maarten Grimm (bass) and Robin van Poppel (guitar) as well.

Their album ‘Necrologies’ is a tribute to all creatures who suffered or died by the greed of others. It acknowledges their battle, struggle or innocence. The scarlet stories show the dark side of humanity and are soundtracks to emotions, injustice, murder, but also beauty and innocence. One moment fragile and quiet, and the other moment intense and raw.

Scarlet Stories was support act for Antimatter, Danny Cavanagh (Anathema) and KLONE and performed at festival like Castlefest, ProgPower Europe and Prognosis.
